Configure Windows NT Dial Up Networking How to add XiConnect to the Phonebook
Note: Please check with your local telephone company to determine if any tolls apply when using the number provided to you by XiConnect. XiConnect assumes no responsibility for any long distance charges that you may incur. How to Configure your XiConnect connection With the Dial-Up Networking Phonebook open, select XiConnect from the Phonebook entry to dial: drop-down list. Click More and select Edit entry and modem properties. This will display the Edit Phonebook Entry window with various tabs across the top. Basic tab Uncheck "use Telephony dialing properties" and enter in everything you need to dial into your access number in the field for Phone Number. If necessary, include the "*70," to disable call waiting, or "9," to dial an outside line. Click the Configure button. You can adjust your modem's Initial Port Speed here. All three checkboxes under Hardware Features should be checked. Then click Ok. Server tab Dial-up server type: should be PPP: Windows NT, Windows 95, Internet. Under Network protocols, only TCP/IP should be checked. Uncheck both Enable software compression and Enable PPP LCP extensions. Click the TCP/IP Settings button. Configure the TCP/IP Settings window using the following information:
Script tab This should be set to none. Security tab This should be set to the top option, Accept any authentication, including clear text. X.25 tab Network should be set to none.
You should see a dialing status window that shows the dialing process. Once connected, you should see the dial-up networking monitor on the taskbar in the system tray.
